Simple, laid back, cat loving mother of two is me in a nutshell.
I’ve always had a flair for the artistic, but as I grew older and had to conform to the “real world” I tucked my creative gene away and sought out “real jobs”. I’ve had many real and maybe a few unreal jobs, (including a stint in an Easter egg factory) they have all made me into a very well rounded person, which has shaped me into who I am now – a fun loving mom and photographer!
I’m a little more country than city, grew up just outside of North Bay, Ontario.
I’m cat more than dog, coffee more than tea, Nirvana more than Back Street Boys and summer over winter.
I’ve always admired photography, but never saw it as something I could actually do. After following my hubby to Petawawa, ON because of a work contract he had there, I left the field of Dental Hygiene and picked up my first DSLR camera. I was home with the kids, so it left me plenty of time to annoy every living thing, man, woman and child within a 50 kilometer radius trying to figure out how to use this new piece of equipment. I joined a 365 project which would force me to take a daily photo and post it for critique. I learned so much there and still to this day, have on-line Facebook friends from it whom I have never met.
It took me a while to figure out what genre of photography I wanted to focus on, but the focus was always going to be people. I love and admire landscape photography as well as nature and many other types, but to me a photo is just not complete unless there are people in it. People are what I capture best. A shy look, a deep look, a candid look, a beautiful one. Capturing emotion or just having someone stare straight into your lens is what does it for me.
Weddings and capturing people just being people just seemed to fit. I love it and haven’t looked back.
