Let me introduce you to the new Mr and Mrs. Sarah and Maxime met over 5 years ago through mutual friends. Both are members of the Armed forces and while dating, Maxime was deployed to Cold Lake, Alberta where they now both reside.
The pair decided to get married in the Ottawa area, as it is where many of their friends and family are from. It was easier for the two of them to get here, than their large guest list of 185 to travel out there.
Sarah’s dad Pierre, and her mom Sylvie, contacted me in regards to wedding photography. Dad is a bit of a photography buff, and really liked my style. They were a pleasure to deal with and it was amazing that Sarah and Max were able to put their trust in me without even meeting.
May19th turned out to be a rainy one! It didn’t matter though, we were able to go with the flow and stay mostly dry. The girls got ready at Casselodge, which is a beautiful bed and breakfast lodge in Casselman, ON. When it was time to depart for the ceremony, Sarah had a cool VW beetle convertible escort by her dad.
The ceremony was held at a lovely rustic farm called Ferme Drouin. There were a few hick ups in the day, such as the original hair and make up artist calling in sick, the wedding rings were forgotten at the lodge before the ceremony and one of the groomsmen had to leave because his wife was in labour. What’s a memorable wedding without a few hick ups?
It was such an amazing day filled with tradition, loving family and friends. One thing I found out is the french like to kiss…. a lot! Kissing games galore. By the time we wrapped up, the rain had stopped and the poutine bar was in full swing. We had such a great time shooting this fun, love filled wedding.
All the best to you both in the future.
