This was the last wedding of the season for me, and I am happy to say we went out with a bang! Lori and Donnie were married at Eagle Creek Golf Club just outside of Kanata. It was my first time there and I was very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the venue and the grounds. It was the perfect place for a fall wedding.
I have known Lori as an acquaintance for a few years now, she works with my husband at Ellis Don Construction. The fact that she is marrying Don(nie) Ellis was not lost upon anyone. I had met Donnie once at the Christmas party last year and Lori, like all brides, was worried because he hated having his picture taken. (This seems to be a long running theme with all the grooms, lighten up fellas!)
I am happy to report, he did a fabulous job and it was nothing but laughs the whole time. Donnie even got to practice his golf swing, so I think he was pretty happy about that.
Lori’s bridesmaids were a hoot! They are all long time girlfriends and I think they worried a time or two that their blush-worthy jokes may offend me. Don’t worry ladies, they did not and I am the same way around my besties.
The wedding had been a long time coming, Lori and Donnie have been together for 9 years and have a beautiful son together. Everything was perfect, especially the weather and I was touched that both Lori’s biological father as well as her step father both walked her down the aisle simultaneously.
The party went into full swing and everyone from what I could see was having an amazing time. So here’s to many more years together and I’ll see you both at the Christmas party!
