It was so great being part of Steve and Wistara’s wedding day. I was pretty thrilled when I first met them at a bakery (simply biscotti) on Preston Street. It was one of Wistara’s favourite places where she would frequent for a sweet treat. We chatted over coffee and flaky pastry (a woman after my own heart). Steve however, was not as big a fan, he was more of a beer and hockey kind of guy. Do they have pubs that serve pastry?
Steve and “Wisty” as she is known by her friends and family were married at Lago on a Thursday night! I love it when the wedding world strays a bit from the traditional. Before hand, I had the treat of visiting Wistara at the Château Laurier where she got ready. I had never actually been before and it was amazing! Like any good bride, we were a bit late to the party, but we eventually got there to meet Steve patiently waiting for us. After the ceremony there was an intimate party with cocktails, a sit down dinner and if you wanted the newlyweds to kiss, you had to read “wed libs” which were stationed at every table. For those of you not in the know it’s a spinoff of mad libs which is is a phrasal template word game where one player prompts others for a list of words to substitute for blanks in a story, before reading the story out loud. This kept the crowd entertained throughout the night.
We were blessed with beautiful almost but not quite rainy weather, with peeks of sunshine and dramatic clouds. As you will see in some of the photos below there is a theme of Wistara jumping in the photos. Not 100% sure of the significance of this, other than her being a champion figure skater, I think she just likes photo bombing. Also maybe a bit like the roaming gnome, she takes a picture jumping where ever she goes lol.
Thanks again Wistara and Steve for including me in your day, it was beautiful just like the two of you!
Wistara got a big surprise when she saw old friends checking in to the hotel….neither she or her friends knew each other would be there!
