Rob and Lisa were married in Ashton on July 24th, 2015. They had a quaint Friday afternoon wedding which took place at the Ashton United church with their closest friends and family.
Rob and Lisa came all the way from Victoria, British Columbia to have their ceremony in this pretty little Ontario town. It turned out to be easier for them to travel here, where family resides than for everyone to fly out there. I couldn’t have been more thrilled, because I got to spend the afternoon with a very sweet and down to earth couple.
We got off to a late start due to a few different circumstances, mainly the queensway traffic on a Friday afternoon (I guess we should have warned them about that!) But luckily the officiant broke her steadfast rule about being on time and stuck around to complete the ceremony.
Friendly townsfolk…..
Originally I was worried about not having varied locations to shoot in Ashton, after all there is not much there other than the famous Ashton pub, but Lisa and Rob did the leg work on a previous day and went around to all the local towns-folk and asked if they would mind if we used their yards and properties. The people of Ashton are very accomodating and allowed us graciously to use any buildings, yards and gardens that we wanted. It was glorious, filled with so much natural rustic charm.
One of my favourite spots ended up being an old Chevy Appache just on the street in front of an old abandoned garage which the groom eagerly sought out. He definitely wanted to make that a wedding memory and I commend him for his artistic eye!
After the ceremony and pictures with the bride and groom, friends and family, they all headed back to Ottawa for a private reception dinner.
Thank you Rob and Lisa for choosing me to photograph those special moments and I wish you health, love and happiness going forward.
