July 18th, I had the pleasure of capturing Matthew and Kates special day. They were Married at Calabogie Peaks resort in Calabogie. Well actually, they were married at a private cottage on the water, then celebrated dinner and reception at the resort.
Matt and Kate came to me only a few short months ago with the request to photograph their wedding. They planned the whole wedding in just a few months, which is pretty impressive for all the lovely details they were able to incorporate.
I knew I wanted to be a part of this wedding after I met Matt and Kate at a coffee shop down town Ottawa. They were both very down to earth, kind and they both laughed a lot. This held true through out the wedding day as I don’t think I have ever seen a bride smile as much as Kate. Even when I was trying to capture a serious portrait of her she couldn’t help but smirk.
The Ceremony
The Ceremony was over-looking the water and the guests were full of emotion and bubbles! Yes, many of the guests were given bubbles to blow once the ceremony was over and the couple made their way back up the aisle. They brides father seemed particularily tickled by this lovely detail as did many of the other guests. It’s fun to be a kid again sometimes.
Once the ceremony was over Kate and Matt were picked up by speed boat and we were whisked away to a private beach for a few more photos before heading over to the Peaks. This was an absolute treat as it was a very hot July day and the boat ride offered a bit of privacy for the couple as well as some much needed cool lake breezes.
The After Party
The evening finished off at Calabogie peeks with Matt singing through the entire first dance to his bride (so romantic), some beer pouring at the bar of their favourite beer “Beaus” and lots of dancing and laughter.
Thank you Kate and Matt for letting me take a peek into your loving, friendly family life and for allowing me to capture this perfect day for the two of you. Wishing you all the best ever more.
