Wedding season 2015 is definitely underway and the engagement sessions have begun! I had the good fortune to shoot Doug and Bethany’s engagement at Wheelers Pancake House just outside of Perth, Ontario in the Lanark Highlands. March is maple syrup season around these parts, and we thought it would be a cute theme to go with. When I contacted the owner of Wheelers to see if I could use their facilities for a shoot, I had no idea that Bethany was good friends with the owners! Needless to say we had no issue getting on to the grounds after hours once all the pancake lovers had vacated the premises. Everyone from Wheelers was very accomodating and let us have free reign of the facilities, so I just wanted to extend a special thanks for that!
Bethany and Doug have a very special relationship. They met nine years ago through an on-line Christian chat service, (yay another on-line meeting success!) and have been together ever since. What makes their bond even more special is that Bethany resides here in Smiths Falls, Ontario, CANADA, while Doug resides in New York state USA. They have managed to make it work even after all of these years, visiting each other back and forth across the border. So how do you make a cross border marriage work you may ask? Well they won’t have to find out, as Doug will become a Canadian resident and have a happy home with Bethany in Smith’s Falls.
They are both counting down the days until they can be together permanently and start their lives together here in Canada.
So where will the wedding be?
I will be photographing their nuptuals in October at the church Bethany grew up attending and then off to the Smith’s Falls Golf and Country club for the festivities after the ceremony. Until then Doug and Bethany, hold tight. You can look forward to spending the rest of your lives together.

We made use of some of the rustic decor around the property….I think we had a few curious wooly on-lookers too!
There was also a bit of disagreement about who had the better hockey team….(ahem, I think we all know the answer to this….GO SENS GO!)
Thanks again Bethany and Doug for letting me capture these fun and special moments, can’t wait to see you again in the fall!
