Meet Angelina Wrona. If you have not heard of her already, you are about to discover a beautiful person inside and out and the creative world she lives in. Angelina is dubbed an international artist and has made a successful career with her offbeat, hauntingly unique art pieces. She also has a talent and passion for fashion and has even created her own label named Rabid by house of Wrona. After her art career had taken off, Angelina wanted to pursue her love of fashion and opened shop in Merrickville, Ontario. Her boutique is called Anarchy gallery and it is filled with original art pieces, fashion and jewelry. It is a mix of the slightly bizare, eclectic and beautiful.
INSPIRATION
Most of her clothing articles are west coast inspired and her jewelry pieces are collected and produced by herself and other local artisans. Walking into Anarchy gallery is like walking into an art exhibition. The walls are adorned with Angelina’s art work, the floor is hand painted, a gorgeous sofa if you need to relax and the store is loaded with eccentric yet gorgeous clothing and accessories. Angelina likes to display and create clothes using natural fibers. Linen’s, cotton, silk, and light weight fabrics for summer are at the top of her list. Her clothing has a “Cochella” style and feel. She fell in love with west coast fashion while displaying her works in Los Angeles and she’s brought a little taste of it to Merrickville.
LOCATION
Anarchy gallery is in it’s fourth very successful season. Merrickville is a day trip from Ottawa about an hour outside the city and a charming tourist destination. If you decide to visit (and you really should), you will likely find the artist herself behind the counter. If you happen to be getting married, or are looking for something to wear to a formal function, you will not be disappointed with her jewelry collection. Tiaras, rings, bracelelts, necklaces, fascinators….she has them all. From formal to casual, her pieces are all unique and many hand crafted. I had a great afternoon with Angelina and she even invited me into her home, which is as beautiful as her gallery.
