Married at Stonefields Heritage Farm!

Derek and Kendra were married on August 30th, 2013 at Stonefields Heritage Farm.  I had the pleasure and honour of being the photographer for their evening nuptials. From my very first meeting with Kendra, I knew this was going to be a relaxed and fun filled wedding.

I didn’t meet Derek until the rehearsal the night before but I knew after I met him we would all have a great day together. Kendra and Derek’s love story began on Canada day a few years ago, so it was fitting that all of her girls were dressed in red. Everyone looked stunning.
The groomsmen were such a fun bunch, it was hard to get a serious pose out of them….unless it was hardcore serious. That suited me just fine. We did everything from goofing around on the picturesque dock,(where I waded thigh high into the lake) to playing guitar and pulling some fun poses out behind the shed.

When I got over to the girls Kendra was already dressed in her beautiful gown and looking gorgeous. We had some fun there too. The girls got ready at her mother’s beautiful home on a 100 acre property, unfortunately the weather was not so kind to us and it was raining a bit on and off, so we couldn’t go far. Instead, we headed for her mom’s beautiful claw foot tub and blew some bubbles while she had some bubbly!
We headed to the ceremony hoping the rain would stay away for a while, luckily it did.

My fun couple did not want to see each other before the ceremony so they could be surprised, that first look is always amazing and emotional.

I have never seen a happier bride, her smile was constant and infectious. I have been know to blubber like a baby at wedding ceremonies, but this one you couldn’t help but smile. Derek could not help but smile either.
The dark was fast closing in, even faster than anticipated because of the looming storm headed our way. We were able to get a few photos of the couple outdoors before it rained.

I was really worried about not being able to capture the bride and groom portraits the way I had hoped if we’d of  had more daylight. I really wanted the two of them to get their portraits done before the ceremony  but they insisted they wanted to see each other only once the ceremony began. I remember Kendra telling me that it was ok if their portraits were done in the dark because it would make them as original as they were. She was right. Even though our shooting time was brief I think we captured their originality and romantic spirit.
It started to rain, then it started to pour and it did so for the rest of the night. Thank goodness the venue was under an amazing tent and it didn’t affect the party one bit.
Just want to say thank you again to Derek and Kendra for letting me be a part of your incredible day, it was fabulous fun! 2013-09-12_0001.jpg
